Did you know that infants (age 2 and under) can receive great benefit from massage? Truthfully, it’s great for everyone at anyone. AND, what’s not to love about a massage? No matter what kind of massage you get, from Swedish massage to deep tissue or even prenatal massage, you will receive mental and physical benefits each time. So why not give your infant a massage? The benefits babies receives from an infant massage are amazing!
A regular routine of infant massage offers additional benefits to both caregiver and baby that are NOT necessarily provided by normal touch. When practiced, infant massages improved the non-verbal communications between caregiver and child. Massage also helps mothers with postpartum depression and bonding with the baby. It releases serotonin and improved depression symptoms. Research has shown that infant massage specifically helped infants sleep better, aided digestion (reduced colic), improved circulation & weight gain, and eased teething pain. Of course, it can help any child in general feel calmer, more focused and more connected. We also love it for our sporty kids! Massage improves mental and physical performance as well as reduced injury.
It is never too early to massage our little ones.
